Surprised by a nice spring storm that moved through the Frisco, TX area this evening. It was hazy and lacking contrast in the skies. I was very happy to see lighting tonight. Captured one of the first flashes :)

Surprising lack of contrast in the skies today in North Texas. It was cloudy this morning, cleared to blue skies, then back to cloudy this evening. It was a beautiful day, just a little challenging to photograph the skies!

Clouds in the North Texas area this morning and quickly cleared for the rest of the day. the sky was very blue after the last storm system blew through and refreshed the atmosphere. Fair weather clouds, beautiful day!

Ended the day in Blackwell, Oklahoma to photograph a supercell moving away at sunset. The scene was so beautiful, I did a panorama to try to get it all in. This is 20 images stitched together. Hope you like it :)

Chased storms today in SW Kansas with my friend Jim Reed. We ended up at a overlook in the Gypsum Hills East of Ashland, KS. Amazing sunset! The color was fantastic, getting the lightning in the shot was a bonus!

Amazing sunset in Krum, Texas (NW of Denton on I-35) this evening! To the left of the sun is a storm base of a supercell 70 miles away. The anvil (blue) and the mid level clouds lit up at sunset giving me a show that floored me. Heading to Kansas to chase tomorrow, should be a great weekend :)

Chased storms today throughout NW and North Texas today. Witnessed a tornado outside of Decatur, TX, that quickly disappeared in a rain curtain. Captured this lightning at our very last stop for the night. Thoughts are with everyone effected by the tornadoes South of the Dallas / Ft. Worth area.

Clouds this morning in Frisco, TX. I was surprised to see the sky full of altocumulus with a clear sky forecast. The sun lit them up for a few seconds. Beautiful!

Drove back through the Balcones Canyonlands in S. Central Texas this afternoon, heading home from a few days of storm chasing. This is very calm compared to the last few days. I love the wildflowers and the contrast in the sky. Beautiful country!

Chased storms from Abilene to Fredericksburg, Texas today. Our last storm was tornado warned at dark when we arrived into town, it did weaken and passed us by. The lightning was incredible (again) with the storm moving away. This dramatic lightning one looks like a flower blooming. Amazing!

Chased storms from Dodge City, Kansas to the KS / OK border today. This was one of my favorites from the day. Love the color and the lightning. Had more dramatic storm structure shots (coming soon), but I always tend to go for unique. One of my favorites. Had a blast chasing today!

Drove close to 600 miles to chase storms North of Dodge City, Kansas today. Captured this amazing supercell at sunset with my friends from Tempest. The colors were just surreal. There have been many days during this project that the conditions are difficult to photograph for one reason or another. That is a good thing most of the time because it forces you to be creative, try something different. Low stratus clouds over N.TX, so I did a panoramic using 15 shots and processed back and white to bring out some detail. One to tomorrow :)

Cold front moved through Texas last night and brought storms, then overcast skies and rain all day. Did I mention its cold?!! Captured this shot outside of Breckenridge, Texas. Love this old barn tucked away in the hills near Possum Kingdom Lake :)

Out storm chasing today. Amazing display of lightning in Albany, Texas. This was one of the best nights ever for me capturing lighting. Spider and anvil crawler lighting flashing every second. Truly breathtaking. One of my favorites!

Drove from Dallas to Oklahoma City this afternoon. It was warm and hazy with sparse clouds all of the way. Captured this lone cloud on my way out of towm. Chasing storms tomorrow, hopefully will see some good clouds :)

Beautiful and warm in Dallas, TX today. Took the family to the ultra cool Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The clouds were sparse today, so it seemed appropriate to photograph this lone cloud passing by. I love the patterns in this one. Fun day!

Intercepted a amazing supercell in Washita, Oklahoma this afternoon. Drove from Dallas to Elk City to chase with my friends from Tempest Tours. This is a 14 image stitched panorama to show how large this storm was. Amazing experience!

Beautiful day in N Texas. Clouds have been off and on, looking very wispy when they form, then quickly dissipate. Photo tip. If you use your DSLR with a f13 up to f22 and disuse the sunlight - like with a tree, you get a nice starburst effect :) Size of star depending on the number of aperture blades with your lens :)
