Photographing Clouds Everyday From All Over the World

About the Clouds 365 Community

This is the place to share what you see in the sky today—a community forum to gather cloud images of the day from anywhere in the world. In honor of everything this community of cloud lovers has shared with me, I offer this place for you all to share your images and, I hope, experience some of the support and connection I have felt through the project.

Where It Started

The Clouds 365 Project started in the summer of 2009 with my commitment to shoot an image or video of clouds every day for 365 days. So I have spent these months observing the patterns and movement and beauty in the sky every day, stretching creatively for a shot even when it’s overcast or rainy all day, and disciplining myself to make this project part of every day without letting it consume all my days. Turns out I love this project so much, I decided to do another 365 days. I am currently on Year 2

I knew I would learn a lot from the project. In particular, I wanted to explore six things through the project: Art, Learning, Determination, Process, Pattern & Obsession. You can read more about my feelings about and goals for the project at http://www.clouds365.com/about.

One of the most powerful experiences in the Clouds 365 Project was unexpected, though. I have been so struck by the community that has developed around this project, the incredible images and insights that have been shared. It’s an awesome gift to post an image of the clouds over my head and to have so many of you see it, share that moment and offer up something yourself—a simple “thumbs up,” a comment or even an answering image of your own. (Thank you, Facebook Fans!) I wanted to facilitate that spirit of community by creating a space for your images from all over the world.

Pick Up Your Camera!

There are a few rules—just a few—for sharing images in this forum. This site is about clouds, and the sky should be prominent in your photo. And—very important—your photo must be taken the same day it is posted. This is not a showplace for your best photo from last year’s vacation; it is a celebration of the present. With all our images of each day, I hope we can see something wonderful, a collective view of the sky over our heads, with hundreds of faces looking up.

Thank you for being a part of the Clouds 365 Community, and I hope you’ll accept my invitation to step all the way in and offer your own cloud images to the community. Try to do post an image every day—at least for a week or a month at a time. There’s so much to be learned from the process—and from each other.
